pseudomonas can't hv black colonies
medium seems to be nutrient agar
WIDAL TEST
significant titer is >= 1:160
increse in O-titer means active infection
increase in H-titer means past infection/vacination
Vi antibody is present in carriers
station 12
1. O TITER 1:320
H TITER 1:160
2. it is typhoid fever becoz AO, AH, BO etc are below 1:160 , so it can't be paratyphoid..its TYPHOID.
superb !
i hav general patho. slides...
hw cud i post?
n plz if some1 hav parasito. stuff, plz upload:(
antigen o indicates present infection and antigen H indicates past infection in widal report

The Widal test is applied for the diagnosis of enteric fever that includes typhoid
and paratyphoid caused by Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi respectively. For
the slide agglutination test, stained Salmonella antigens are used to detect the presence of
specific agglutinin in the patient’s serum. The slide agglutination test is used as a primary
screening procedure. There are some agglutinins that are produced in the patient’s serum
during the fever period, which react with somatic antigen O of Salmonella typhi, A or B
of Salmonella paratyphi and then with flagellar antigen H which is common in most of
the Salmonella species. In this test four specific antigen suspensions are used viz H,
Salmonella typhi (O antigen), Salmonella paratyphi - A and Salmonella paratyphi - B. If
agglutination occurs in ‘O’ antigen added circle, then it is considered positive for
Salmonella typhi. If agglutination occurs in A or B antigen added circle, then it is
confirmed as positive for paratyphoid. Agglutination will occur in H antigen circle for all
the cases of antigens like O, A, and B
wat is typhi dot test?

Typical colonial morphology on Salmonella Shigella Agar is as follows:
E. coli ..............................................Slight growth, pink or red
Enterobacter/Klebsiella ................Slight growth, pink
Proteus ..........................................Colorless, usually with black center
Salmonella......................................Colorless, usually with black center
Shigella ..........................................Colorless
Pseudomonas ................................Irregular, slight growth
Gram-positive bacteria..................No growth
salmonella shigella agar only does nt allow the growth of gram positive bacteria....other gram negative rods can grow and salmonella n proteus have same results while shigella gives colorless colonies...ive confirmnd this from www.bd.com
